A Dutch microphone system that live-subtitles group conversations for deaf and hard-of-hearing people.

Each speaker wears a small microphone. SpeakSee converts speech into text and shows on a phone or tablet who is saying what. In an UWV pilot, 41 employees used the system. More than half of the participants at regular employers still used it at the end and gave an average score of 8.2. The results were mainly qualitative, and the tool does not suit every workplace.
AI factor
Speech recognition processes multiple voices and background noise into live text. The user sees which speaker is talking and decides for themselves when a sign language interpreter or additional explanation is still needed.
