Robic: AI as a Support Tool in Rehabilitation
A social robot guides exercises during rehabilitation and provides professionals with data on progress, without replacing the therapist.
About
The Spanish company Inrobics developed Robic, a social robot that guides people through motor, cognitive, and social exercises. In a European pilot in the Czech Republic, the robot is used as a support tool for people with autism and others, with room for local language and care practices. The robot makes sessions more consistent and can track progress; the care professional determines the exercise and guidance. A registered randomized study on rehabilitation for children is planned. Available sources support application and CE medical marking, but not yet proven improvement of treatment outcomes.
AI factor
AI adapts the exercise to the user's progress and helps track progress across repeated sessions. The therapist retains control and responsibility for the treatment.
