Monumental is developing a coordinated fleet of electric construction robots in Amsterdam for tasks including masonry. The robots operate on actual construction sites using sensors, image recognition, and cranes; Atrium, its own software platform, plans and coordinates the work. Monumental reports deployment on more than forty projects in the Netherlands, alongside expansion to the United Kingdom and pilots in the United States. The technology can help address a shortage of skilled workers and repetitive heavy work, but people remain needed for preparation, supervision, materials, and intervention on site.
AI factor
Image recognition and sensors help robots understand their position, materials, and construction environment. Atrium coordinates the robot fleet and work plan; operators and construction teams monitor execution and resolve deviations.
