Decision support that analyzes data in the emergency department and warns nurses of possible under- or over-triage.
About
KATE uses data from the electronic patient record and initial triage to predict whether the chosen urgency level may not fit. The nurse receives an additional signal and can review the assessment again. A published retrospective study showed the model could recognize cases of under-triage, but does not yet prove that the software improves patient outcomes in every practice.
AI factor
The model compares many patient characteristics with patterns from previous emergency care. It provides a second check during a busy moment; the nurse retains the clinical decision.
