Gradyent — district heating networks
Dutch software uses a digital copy of a district heating network, along with data and AI, to help operate the network more intelligently and efficiently.
About
Gradyent creates digital copies of district heating networks. The system combines real-time data from the network with technical knowledge and AI to better predict demand, temperature, and flow. Operators can thereby better align heat sources and pumps. At the Hengel network operated by Ennatuurlijk, Gradyent reports 180 MWh less electricity use and 110 MWh less heat loss per year. These are figures reported by the supplier; the savings come from better-supported operation of an existing district heating network.
AI factor
AI helps predict demand and behavior within the district heating network. Operators use these predictions together with technical models and sensor data.
