Dembrane
A Dutch participatory platform that uses AI to synthesize many group discussions into traceable summaries, while allowing participants to verify the results.
About
Dembrane helps organizations that want to hear from many people at once, such as in participatory processes, policy-making, and co-decision-making. Small groups conduct their own discussions, after which the platform surfaces recurring themes and outcomes. Participants can check whether their input was understood correctly before it is incorporated into the results. In this way, AI is not a replacement for the conversation but a way to take many voices seriously at the same time. The OECD cites Dembrane's Echo as an example in its research on AI and citizen participation.
AI factor
Speech processing and language models consolidate recurring themes, differences, and questions from many discussions, with a traceable link back to the source.
