ARISE is a Dutch infrastructure developed by Naturalis, the University of Amsterdam, Westerdijk, and the University of Twente. It combines DNA, images, sound, and AI models to identify species in the Netherlands faster. Naturalis already delivers its AI-based identification and reporting to provinces, municipalities, and construction companies for insect monitoring. Experts use the results for research, nature management, and permitting.
AI factor
AI sorts large volumes of image and audio data and proposes species identifications. Ecologists and other experts validate and interpret the data to inform their decisions.
